Max Armstrong talks about filling the risk management gaps with the new farm bill.
Max Armstrong says that drought and wildfire and other weather-related disasters will continue to hit agriculture, and they cost a lot in crop losses. Five states accounted for two-thirds of crop losses last year. Unanticipated events pose the real threat to risk management, and for some crops, risk management options just aren’t available through crop insurance. Writing a new farm bill will offer the chance to fill those gaps.
Max Armstrong's Farm Progress America is a daily look at key issues in agriculture. It is produced and presented by Max Armstrong, veteran farm broadcaster and host of This Week in Agribusiness.
