How
to Make Irish Cream Cold Brew
This
is a brief overview of how to make this delicious drink. For the
full recipe with all of the measurements, please see the recipe card
at the bottom of the post.
Make cold brew
coffee. This is very easy to do. Read
more on this below.
Make Irish cream
syrup. With just a few easy
ingredients you can make this amazing syrup and keep it on hand
for any time a craving strikes.
Make vanilla cold
foam. Made just from heavy cream,
vanilla, and a dash of sugar, this is the perfect cold brew
topping.
Put it all
together.
Making
Cold Brew Coffee
Cold
Brew Coffee is just the combination of cold water and coffee grounds
that steep for 24 hours. While normal coffee involves hot water
being poured over grounds, in cold brew the length of time it steeps
allows for a perfect cold coffee.
After
steeping for 24 hours, use a cheese cloth to strain the coffee
grounds. Then the coffee is ready to be combined with syrups and
foam, like we are doing here.
Irish
Cream Syrup
Like
any simple syrup, Irish Cream
Syrup starts with water and sugar. After boiling water and sugar
together, we add in vanilla
extract, almond extract, and coconut extract that
make it the perfect flavor. The final taste is very similar to
Bailey’s Irish Cream, but without the alcohol.
If
you want to skip making it at home, you can also buy
it .
Making
Cold Foam for Cold Brew Coffee
The
cold foam that goes on top of cold brew drinks is easy to make.
If you start to put it on every coffee drink you make at home,
you will get no judgement from me.
Simply
whisk heavy cream in a cold bowl with a cold whisk. Whisk in
vanilla and a little sugar, and as soon as it begins to stiffen
up, it is ready for your drink.
Storing
Leftovers of Irish Cream Cold Brew
You
don’t want to combine the three ingredients to this drink until
you are ready to drink it. But each one has a different shelf
life.
Cold
Brew Coffee can be stored in the refrigerator for 1 to 3 days.
While it can last up to 2 weeks, the taste will go downhill
after day three.
Irish
Cream Syrup can last in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Cold Foam
should be made right before it is used.
Is
cold brew coffee stronger?
No,
if you compare hot coffee and cold brew side by side by
using the same bean to water ratio, hot coffee is stronger.
That being said, you can certainly make cold brew stronger
but upping the coffee to water ratio.
How
long does cold brew last?
Cold
Brew is best when consumed in the first 1 to 3 days after
making it. It will last for up to 2 weeks, but the flavor is
best in those first 1 to 3 days.
Does
Irish Cream Cold Brew have alcohol?
No,
it does not. While it has similar flavors to Irish Cream
(which is made with whiskey), the syrup that flavors this
great drink is alcohol free.
