Snow removal preparations in Rockford

ROCKFORD  — Snowplow companies are taking measures to prepare for incoming winter weather.

DM4 Sealcoating will be clearing snow for multiple clients. To prepare for what's to come, the Owner, Francisco Martinez, keeps a close eye on the forecast. That lets him know what materials he may need.

“It all depends on the forecast. If it calls for snow, we are just ready to plow.  If we know temperatures will drop, we mainly order more salt and prepare ourselves with more salt,” said Martinez.

"We can be out in the field, 12, 15, 16 hours straight,” said Martinez.

Snow Removal business “sNOw Problem” clears snow for commercial spaces. Owner Chris Keinz says he and his employees will cover up to 40 jobs apiece. That makes vehicle maintenance and preparations a necessity to satisfy customers.

"If you have to pull over because you are broke down for a couple of hours, it's costing you money. Your customers might go somewhere else waiting for you,” said Keinz.

Keinz says safety is a concern when working in intense winter and low visibility conditions. He commends the men and women working hard to clear city and county streets.

"It's pretty much a whiteout outside sometimes. People don't give those guys the credit they deserve. Even the guys that do the city streets, those guys are out there bussing' their butts also,” said Keinz.
