MOPD: Investigation leads to two people arrested for possessing cocaine

MONONA, Wis. (WMTV) - An investigation that started last week led to two people being arrested on Tuesday for possessing cocaine, reports the Monona Police Department.

Police say an investigation into illegal drug distribution began after officials found close to one kilogram of cocaine in a Monona retail establishment. According to MOPD, the cocaine was linked to a customer.

The investigation led officials to obtain search warrants for a nearby Madison apartment complex. The police department’s Community Response Team (CRT) conducted the search and took two people into custody Tuesday.

A 32-year-old Madison woman was arrested on the charge of felony possession of cocaine with intent to deliver (>40g) as a party to a crime. MOPD says at the time of this incident, the woman was addressing a misdemeanor case for battery and disorderly conduct in Dane County.
A 56-year-old Madison man was arrested on the charge of felony possession of cocaine with intent to deliver (>40g) as a party to a crime. According to MOPD, the man has a prior conviction for delivering cocaine in which he served 14 years in federal prison.
