Two occupants in a sedan were transported to the hospital after a head-on collision with a pickup truck near Marengo Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said.
The Marengo Fire and Rescue District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 12:37 p.m. Wednesday to the intersection of Route 20 and East Coral Road in Coral Township southeast of Marengo for a report of a vehicle crash.
Fire crews arrived to find two vehicles involved in the intersection with moderate damage, according to Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts Communication Specialist Alex Vucha.
A total of three patients were evaluated, including the driver of a pickup truck and two occupants in a white sedan.
Both patients in the white sedan were transported to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in Huntley with non-life-threatening injuries, Vucha said.
The cars were cleared from the roadway by around 2 p.m.
Vucha said the Marengo Fire and Rescue District was dispatched for numerous simultaneous calls in less than an hour, including the vehicle crash.
The Woodstock, Hampshire and Huntley fire departments assisted Marengo with their calls and backfilling their station.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
