Planning to spend the day outside this Fourth of July, either cooking
out or attending a Fourth of July parade and fireworks show? Here's what
you need to know about the weather forecast.
The Rockford area could be getting a slightly wet but still experience
some sunshine this Independence Day.
Forecasters are calling for a partly sunny day with a chance of rain
showers, a high of 82 degrees and a low of 65.
Thunderstorms are possible late Thursday, too.
According to the National Weather Service, there's a greater chance
of rain and thunderstorms on Tuesday that's expected to clear up to
sunny skies and a high of 86 degrees on Wednesday.
Friday has a chance of rain, as does Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, the average daily high for
July 4 in Rockford is 84 degrees and the average low is 63 degrees.
Besides the possible thunderstorms late Thursday — after midnight — and
Tuesday, the weather service isn't calling for any other hazardous
weather in the coming week.
AccuWeather is predicting similar conditions but
puts the chances of rain in Rockford on the Fourth at 40%, with
thunderstorms in the late evening.
The Weather Channel is calling for a high of just
79 degrees on the Fourth with a 48% chance of rain.
